Faced with elimination in their own host regional, the Cal State Fullerton Titan baseball team responded with a 6-5 victory over Stanford. The loss by Stanford eliminates them from Regional competition. Despite not being in Omaha, Stanford was dealt the dreaded “2 and a Que”.
By virtue of Minnesota beating New Mexico in the winner’s bracket, that means the Titans will face another elimination game on Sunday at 4 pm pacific time. If the Titans can win that contest, they will then face Minnesota later in a double header. Should the Titans beat both New Mexico and Minnesota on Sunday, they will then play Minnesota again on Monday for the right to play the winner of the UCLA Regional the following week. If UCLA wins that regional, the Super Regional will be played at Jackie Robinson Stadium at UCLA. Should UCLA lose the regional and the Titans win theirs, the UCLA regional winner would then play Fullerton in Fullerton in the Super Regionals.
Lots of moving parts and a number of things have to fall their way but you can never count out the Titans until it is all said and done. The Titans are still alive but they do have a tough road ahead of them.
